PART III TYPES OF INTERVIEWS FACE-TO-FACE INTERVIEWS Переведите названия видов интервью
One-to-one interview, sequential interview, panel interview, telephone interview, video interview, traditional interview, conventional interview, chronological interview, competency-based interview, technical interview.
INTERVIEW The employment interview is the most widely-used selection technique. Job candidates are usually interviewed by a member of the HRM staff. Interviews provide an opportunity for the firm and the applicant learn more about each other. Different problems can be solved through the use of structural interviews. A structural interview is an interview in which an interviewer asks a prepared set of questions. The interview is probably the hardest part of getting a job. If you are invited to attend an interview, confirm the appointment by a letter, phone or mail. Think about your appearance – first impressions are important. Use the Internet to search about the company. Prepare questions which you think the interviewer may ask you. Think about your personal strengths and weaknesses or how you would describe your personality. Ask yourself why the company should choose to employ you, instead of the other people who are applying. There is a short wait until the company calls back with their offer or mail a rejection.
QUESTIONS FOR THE INTERVIEW
A JOB INTERVIEW 1. APPLYING FOR A JOB 10. 11. When you apply for a job, you will be asked to send your CV/resume, together with a letter or email of application. Later you will need to go on interviews to meet with employers face to face. Employers often receive hundreds of job applications, so it is very important to make sure that your CV and job application letter create the right impression. It is your opportunity to say why you want the job and to present yourself as the best prospective employee. 12. Before beginning to draft your CV, read the advert carefully so that you are clear about the specific requirements of the job you are applying for. A CV should be clear and well-structured so that the employer can find the information he is looking for quickly and easily. 13. Make your application letter brief. Don’t give many details but give concise explanation of your suitability for the job. 14. The usual order of a job application letter is as follows. 15. Give the title of the job as a heading or refer to it in the first sentence of your letter. This will ensure that your application goes directly to the right person in the organization. You should also mention where you saw the job advert or you heard about the vacancy. If you heard about it through someone already working for the company, mention their name and position. 16. e.g. I would like to apply for the position of a secretary advertized in this month’s addition of the Computer Technology. DIALOGUE 25. 26. A: Mrs.Wright, tell me about CVs, please. What are the key things to include? 27. W: Well, you should start with brief personal details, of course. You know, name, age, and so on. Marital status is OK, too, but no names of children or pets. 28. A: And next comes education, I suppose. 29. W: Yes. You ought to list the schools and institutions you’ve attended in chronological order. Make sure that the dates are right. Don’t forget details of the qualifications you obtained. 30. A: I see. Now for the part of the CV which deals with work experience. Should we go through this in chronological order or start with the current job first? 31. W: Begin with the present job. Then work backwards. (в обратном направлении) Give a brief description of each job and try to list one or two achievements. 32. A: That’s hard if you are still a student, isn’t it? 33. W: True. But you can give details of any part-time holiday job.
34. A: And my last question. What about a photograph? 35. W: Well, it goes with your application form, but you can put it on your CV, too. But never send a picture of you on the beach or at a party.
